  • rodenticides-courses-onsite-trainingAs of 1st June 2016, it is a requirement for users of rodenticides to hold an industry recognised certificate to show they comply with CRRU.

It is the responsibility of anyone carrying out rodent control to be familiar with the relevant legislation concerning the humane and effective management of rat and mouse problems. All who use rodenticides must apply best practice to minimise exposure of wildlife. If this is not done we must expect ever greater restrictions on who can use rodenticides and where they can be applied, possibly to the eventual detriment of effective rodent control.

As a LANTRA approved training provider we can offer you this qualification to operate professionally and responsibly in the industry. Please refer to the overview of the LANTRA Technical Award in the Responsible and Effective Control of Commensal Rodents in our NPTC/LANTRA courses section.

Our next rodenticides course is on: 16th November 2016 £115 + VAT per person plus LANTRA certification £30 per person.

  • BridgemanOnSite Training UK had a great start to the New Year, presenting the first ever ‘LANTRA Level 3 Certificate in Installation and Maintenance of Green Roofs’ to living roof expert Chris Bridgman from Bridgman Landscapes in Milton Keynes.

Chris had demonstrated both his practical and theoretical knowledge  to achieve the qualification to an assessor from OnSite Training over a period of months. This included visits to sites that Chris was working on as well as ones that he had completed, rigorous questioning by a living roof consultant.

Margaret McNeil from OnSite said: “Chris saw an accredited qualification had become available and decided to add it to his portfolio of achievements. It can only be gained by someone with a good depth of knowledge as well as lots of practical experience, including managing on site. We think it is testimony to Chris’s commitment to quality that he wanted to further prove his competence via an accredited course.” The qualification is also available at Level 2 for operatives, and its development was part funded by the EU ‘Leonardo’ Programme, with OnSite Training and 5 European partners.  www.bridgmanlandscapes.co.uk
  • Grandfather rights sprayingGrandfathers Rights for Pesticide Users, Changes to Rules

A recent exemption in UK law, commonly known as “grandfather rights”, allowed anyone born before 31 December 1964, to use plant protection products (PPPs ) authorised for professional use on their own or their employer’s land, without having to hold a certificate (of competence) although they should still be suitably trained and competent for their job. The Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012 allowed this exemption to continue until 26 November 2015.

It is now an offence for anyone to purchase or use PPPs authorised for professional use unless they have ensured that the intended end user has a certificate. If you don’t already have a certificate, you will need to get one so that you can continue to use PPPs as part of your job.
